The blaze broke out at Olney Grille on Laytonsville Road near Georgia Avenue around 12:25 p.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

It involved the grill area and ductwork on the first floor, Piringer added.

The building was evacuated as crews ensured that the fire hadn’t spread to the second-floor offices, though light smoke was observed.

The restaurant is temporarily closed for repairs, Piringer said. It isn't clear how long the closure will last. No injuries were reported.

Code enforcement and building/health inspectors also assisted.
